What’s 🆕
We recently announced that we are launching a new competition that will allow SorareData members to compete for prizes based on the accuracy of their projected lineups for matches in upcoming gameweeks.
The details have been ironed out — you can read them here — and we’re excited to begin the competition for GW310! If you would like to participate, head over to the Community lineups tab in the Gameweek Center to start submitting your projections!
Good luck to all!
🔦 Feature Spotlight
Rewards Page: A feature not known by everyone, our Gameweek Center Rewards page is a critical tool for those who want to analyze the card rewards Sorare distributed to managers in all divisions of the game.
Filters are available to either select a specific tournament, find a specific player, or see what a specific Sorare manger won in the gameweek.
This feature has various uses. First, we can quickly observe the number of rewards distributed by scarcity, and thus be able to compare them with previous gameweeks. In doing so, we can see that there was a decrease of 194 limited cards between GW304 and 302, but an increase in the number of super rares and uniques. This differential can be explained by the opening of specific divisions (Specialist, Underdog, Kickoff), though we can see a strong increase in rewards if we examine more distant gameweeks.
The page also allows you to see the current public value of each reward distributed, which can be satisfying or frustrating depending on which cards surround yours!
It also allows you to see the differences in price between the division winners, and the rest of the podium. As seen above, Joshua Kimmich, the first-place prize, is valued at 1.4 ETH while Steven Bergwijn, the second-place prize, is 0.482, a difference of about 0.9; and it’s hardly an isolated case.
For example, let's take a quick look at the top prizes in All Star, Champion Europe and U23 Limited divisions in GW 304:
Champion Europe surprisingly had the lowest value reward of the three even though it is a division favored by many Sorare managers.
Competing for Tier 0 Limited Rewards 🥊 ⭐️
We tweeted earlier this week that the number of Tier 0 limited rewards has increased recently, and the distribution is wider than ever thanks to a plethora of competitions they are available in, including the regular tournaments like All Star, U23, Champion Europe, Challenger Europe, America and Asia, as well as weekly competitions, such as Underdog, Underdog 45, Specialist, Specialist Champions League, Specialist Europe League, Specialist Conference League, Specialist Champion Europe, Specialist Bundesliga, Specialist La Liga, and Specialist Jupiler League.

We also recently analyzed the minimum number of fantasy points required to win Tier 0 limited rewards in the main competitions, as well as on a per-card basis when including Underdog tournaments that only require four cards, but what that analysis lacked was a view on how competitive each tournament is in terms of viable lineups. It may take fewer points to win a Tier 0 reward in Asia Limited than Challenger Europe Limited, but that doesn’t mean you can submit an Asia lineup into a Challenger Europe competition.
To accomplish what we’re looking to do, let’s examine the number of viable lineups per Tier 0 limited reward in each main competition to see which ones may be the “easiest” or “hardest” to win.
There are a number of Sorare managers who share data showing the number of total entries versus the number of available rewards in each competition per gameweek, but the figures paint an incomplete picture because not all entries are actually viable. Specifically, a lineup made up of three players with games and two players without games is counted the same as a lineup made up of five players with games; obviously the latter lineup has a significantly more reasonable chance to win a reward.
The number of viable lineups as a percentage of total lineups varies throughout the year, and it’s worth pointing out that we should have a high percentage right now, at least during weekend gameweeks, because every Sorare-covered league is currently in season. However, we aren’t necessarily seeing that in every main competition in the weeks leading up to the recent international break. We did see all six competitions with at least a 90%+ viable lineup percentage in GWs 302 and 306, but we’re seeing lower percentages in others. In fact, U23 only hit 90% twice during the weekend gameweeks shown, while All Star was only three times.
Another point to analyze is how many Tier 0 limited rewards there were available in each gameweek over that span, which will also help us understand the viability of winning them. This graph is similar to the one in our tweet above, but the bars make it a bit easier to see the distribution across each competition.
And finally, we can take the number of viable lineups per gameweek and compare them to the number of available rewards in each competition to see which ones are the most competitive. The graph below shows how many viable lineups are competing for each Tier 0 limited reward. For example, if there are 100 viable lineups and 10 Tier 0 rewards available, that means there are 10 viable lineups competing for each reward.
What we, as Sorare managers, want to see is as low a number as possible. Why? Well, simply put, wouldn’t you rather compete against 5 people for a reward versus 50 or 500?
And what we see might be a little surprising: the competition that often has the fewest managers competing for each Tier 0 limited prize is U23. We learned previously that U23 limited doesn’t require the most points to win Tier 0 rewards most gameweeks, but it’s still quite something to see that it may actually be “easier” to win star rewards there than All Star, Champion Europe, Challenger Europe, America and Asia when it comes to the number of viable lineups competing for each reward.
This doesn’t mean that Sorare managers will easily win star rewards just by playing a lineup with five players with matches, or that having five starters guarantees anything, but it certainly seems to be the contest where those things may help the most.
